Essential oils are obtained by distillation, usually by using steam, of the plant from which they are extracted. They are called essential because they contain the essence of the plant’s characteristic fragrance.

They are used in many cosmetic products, perfumes, soaps, drinks and food for adding flavor, or household products for adding pleasant smell. However, essential oils are also beneficial for health and survival.

To be specific, in case you have some emergency and you don’t have the medication or medical attention available that is needed in such a situation, essential oils are of great help and can solve the problem immediately.

For instance, essential oils are very helpful in the following situations when:

  • medical help isn’t available while you suffer from a bacterial infection or other health issues;
  • the dentist (or medical help) isn’t available while you suffer from an agonizing toothache or some other type of ache;
  • you experience stress and anxiety due to some terrible disaster.

Lemon

In urgent situations when there is no drinkable water, you may add a few drops of this oil to water in order to purify it.

Lavender
