About the Documentary
The people who realized this project were the director Ron Fricke and the producer Mark Magidson. They are awarded for their two previous films for combining visual and musical artistry.
The word ‘Samsara’ comes from Sanskrit and means ‘the ever turning wheel of life’. This documentary was filmed over a period of 25 years in 25 countries. Samsara doesn’t contain dialogue or descriptive text. Instead, it encourages and stimulates our own inner interpretations inspired by images and music.
Mark Magidson and Ron Fricke, together with JC Earle (associate producer), and Myles Connolly (line producer) traveled together to each location throughout the course of filming. They claim that they had no agenda whatsoever and that the documentary is not only about the food industry. In fact, the filmmakers stated that this documentary was rather about feelings and an inner journey than an intellectual experience.
